On December 13th 2021, the FDA sent a blistering email out to the president and CEO of the Federation of State Medical Boards advocating against both the use of ivermectin in COVID-19 patients, and the sale of ivermectin by compounding pharmacies. The response came shortly after an influx of complaints received by the FDA about compounding pharmacies selling the drug to individuals on the basis that it could cure or treat COVID-19.
