When you see people masking their dogs, or wearing n95s while swimming, it is quite clear public health is failing to educate society properly.
Even if masking is an effective intervention to help meaningfully reduce the transmission of respiratory viruses, the messaging should be succinct, and clear. That being, mask in moderation, and when it makes sense. Therefore, do not mask your dog, or strap up before swimming.
Instead, the messaging from public health authorities on this intervention is not clear. Thus, people continue to act radically about masking. Now, the correct thing to do is for CDC to jump in and re-educate everyone. Instead…. crickets. Meaning, the public health monolith remains silent. Sadly, their silence is conformational, and perpetuates poor behavior.
Regrettably, due to the media generated paranoia, individuals in this video take masking to a whole other level.
