New CDC COVID Vaccine Guidance | Is BA.2 Omicron Variant Really More Deadly? | True Flu Vs. COVID Data | School Closures Did Nothing To Change COVID Trajectory
Below is important information you should be aware of. As a quick summary, the COVID narrative is finally shifting. Specifically, non-pharmaceutical interventions like masking, social distancing, and school closures are finally coming to an end. Conversely, pharmaceutical guidance regarding vaccination is changing. For instance, as of today the CDC states that dose 1 and 2 of all mRNA vaccines should be spaced out by 8 weeks as opposed to the original 3-4 weeks. That in recognition of mounting evidence regarding myocarditis/pericarditis after vaccination in young males 12-40. All details are below so keep scrolling for specifics.
CDC published updated vaccine guidance today:
An extended time between first and second COVID-19 vaccine shots. This to help resulting myocarditis cases after 2nd dose.
"an 8-week interval may be optimal for some people ages 12 years and older, especially for males ages 12–39 years"

New info you should know about BA.2 OMICRON variant:
Data from Denmark based on 47 BA.2 reinfection cases suggests that being infected with BA.2 after BA.1 was essentially rare and resulted in mainly mild symptoms. Don’t be fooled by the media who is propagating the narrative that this variant is more deadly.

LOL: How to be a fool on Twitter
I respond to non-sense from a Twitter scientist
“The salient fact and maybe one of the only facts in this matter- natural [immunity] confers broader more protective immunity because of antibody produced against more parts of the virus like n-protein + all parts of spike protein, viral envelope etc, also more robust CD8+ CD4+ T-cells”
5-11 year olds by disease
COVID-19 with MIS-C: 5.7/100,000
MISC: 5.1/100,000
Influenza:17.0/100,000
RSV: 6.2/100,000
That said, hospitalization rate for influenza 2017 > than COVID with or without multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children
Brazil: 8764 schools
The reopening of schools during the COVID-19 pandemic was not associated with increased COVID-19 incidence or mortality. In fact, the relationship was statistically insignificant
In a peer reviewed study of nearly 12 million UK children and young people, out of 3080 CYP deaths within the timeframe, 25 were FROM COVID, of which only 9 did not have very severe, life limiting, existing conditions.
