💉NEW NYC COVID-19 VACCINE MANDATE: The Case Against Vaccinating Healthy Kids 5-17 With Previous Infection
It was mid-day December 6th 2021 when mayor Bill de Blasio announced he would be expanding requirements to his newly created public health program named “Key to NYC”. It is important to note this additional guidance was created in order to supplement the original rules of the policy. More specifically, new guidance aims mandatory COVID-19 vaccination at children entering indoor dining facilities, gyms, and entertainment venues and at all private sector workers regardless of previous infection. All and all, Key to NYC is an attempt to mitigate further damage caused by SARS-CoV-2 - COVID-19 in New York City, but does it follow the current science?
💡To be more specific about the aforesaid policy, children aged 5-11 will be required to have proof they received at least 1 dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by December 14th 2021 in order to gain access to gyms, entertainment venues, and indoor dining spaces. Additionally, children 12 and older will need to be fully vaccinated by December 27th 2021 if they wish to enter to the public spaces mentioned in the prior sentence.
Taking into account everything previously stated, it seems the new rules announced by mayor Bill de Blasio don’t align with the current science for 3️⃣ major reasons:
Two, both vaccinated and un-vaccinated individuals carry an almost identical viral load which correlates with a similar rate of transmission. You can click here to read the 1st study on this. You can click here to read the 2nd study on this.
Three, data from 140 different studies on natural immunity show that previous infection confers durable, robust immunity comparable, better than, or at least equal to vaccination. Let’s start with number one.
*Each of the THREE bullet points from above will be thoroughly explained below and numbered respective to their order. Keep scrolling to learn the science 👇🏻
