There Are 2X More Vaccinated Individuals Infected With BA2 Omicron Than Unvaccinated | 4th Covid Dose Only 5% More Effective Than Placebo | T-Cells More Protective Than Antibodies
If you’ve missed it, below are some important data released in medical journals regarding COVID/science in general you can review at your own leisure. To be specific, the data below covers new studies on vaccine effectiveness against Omicron, the importance of T-cells and how the current myopic focus on covid antibodies is harmful, and of course, how higher infections in those vaccinated VS unvaccinated remains a major problem. As always, the studies have been summarized for you, however, check out the sources below to gain and even better understanding of all the information.
In a recent NEJM study on the efficacy of a 4th dose, 25% of the control arm (those who received placebo) became infected with Omicron, VS. 20.7% in those who received a 4th Moderna dose. That means less than a 5% difference between placebo and vaccine

T-cell epitopes remain similar across most COVID variants. Normally, spike protein-derived epitopes with unchanged amino acid sequences account for 84.5% of CD4+ & 95.3% of CD8+ T-cell epitopes. That means, T cells need to be considered along with antibodies as they recognize unchanged parts of variants where antibodies frequently fail.

In the Seattle area, data shows a higher rate of COVID infections in vaccinated 5-11 year olds VS unvaccinated per 100k. Sadly, this is a trend seen in many areas yet mask and vaccine mandates still persist for children of this age group
Even in a triple vaccinated cohort comprised predominantly of healthy young individuals with no comorbidities, vaccine effectiveness against hospitalization from Omicron was as low as 66.2% in those who received Pfizer & waned rapidly after 3 months
